Three-Day Cleveland Diet

The Three-Day Cleveland Diet is a very low-calorie diet aimed at inducing rapid weight loss over a three-day period. The diet operates on the premise that significantly reducing caloric intake will result in weight loss.

Origin

    Often referred to as the Cleveland Clinic Diet, Cleveland Clinic denies any association with this diet, according to The Diet Channel.

Day One Allowances

    Breakfast is half a grapefruit or juice, and one piece of toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Lunch includes half a cup of tuna and one piece of toast. Dinner consists of 3 ozs. of lean meat or chicken, 1 cup of green beans, 1 cup of carrots, an apple and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream.

Day Two Allowances

    Breakfast includes one egg, half of a banana and a piece of toast. Lunch comprises 1 cup of cottage cheese or tuna and five saltine crackers. Dinner is two beef franks, 1 cup of broccoli or cabbage, half a cup of carrots, half of a banana and 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.

Day Three Allowances

    Breakfast is five saltine crackers, one egg and an apple. Lunch consists of one boiled egg and one piece of toast. And dinner includes 1 cup each of tuna, carrots, cauliflower and melon, and half a cup of vanilla ice cream.

    This diet goes by a number of other names: Dr. Perricone Three-Day Diet, Kaiser Three-Day Diet, American Heart Association Three-Day Diet, Three-Day Army Diet and Three-Day Navy Diet.
