If you need to detox from alcohol, you need foods that will provide you with the nutrition you need and that will not make withdrawal symptoms worse. If you have to go to an alcohol detox center, they should provide you with the appropriate foods. If you plan to detox at home, you should stock your kitchen first.
Protein
Your body needs protein to heal and recover. Eat lean meats, beans, low fat dairy products and tofu for protein. Eat lightly as you may feel nauseous as you detox.
Fruits and Vegetables
Fresh fruits and vegetables will provide you with vitamins you need for recovery, including vitamin C, vitamin A and a variety of B vitamins. Focus on vegetables more than fruits, however, because they contain less sugar.
Liquids
Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and help flush toxins from your body. Avoid drinks high in sugar and drinks with caffeine, though.
Foods to Avoid
Avoid foods high in fat and sugar. Those foods may increase feelings of nausea, shakiness and malaise. All alcohol must be avoided as well, of course.
