Gaining weight in a healthy way is the most important aspect of your weight-gaining endeavor. It is important to put together a healthy meal plan to gain weight, but not make your body unhealthy.

    For meals optimized for gaining weight in a healthy way, Dr. Dan Heinemann, board member of the American Academy of Family physicians, suggests on the WebMD website, that you portion your meals for 60 to 70 percent carbohydrates, 10 to 15 percent protein and a small amount of good fats like unsaturated and monounsaturated fats.

Weight Gain Tips

    When planning your meals it is important to remember that the best way to gain weight is to eat foods that are higher in calories, vitamins and minerals than foods higher in fat and sugar. While fat and sugar will make you gain weight, it will not be healthy or well-proportioned weight.

Sample Meals

    According to the Pittsburgh Steelers' team nutritionist consultant, Leslie Bonci, R.D., healthy meal plan options include chicken salad with a baked potato and fruit juice or a bagel sandwich with turkey and cheese with a piece of fruit. A vegetable omelet with cheese hash browns and two pieces of whole grain toast is a healthy option.
